IDEAS FOR THE HEROS

Hello happy shooters!

I realize that the idea of heroes is a rather conceptual and may be hard to think of ideas for. So after a bit of brainstorm I came up with a few ideas that I hope will help you.

>>Play with mirrors. Quite a few of the captions have to do with OUR identity.

>>Use children. Stereotypically, children have the most vivid picture of heroes.

>>Ideas like strength, fire, and light are portrayed in the quotes. These are great concepts to illustrate visually.

>>Sirens, police, military, firemen, are very stereotypical illustrations of heroes.

Hope this may help a little! Keep up the awesome work and feel free to contact me if you have questions or wan to bounce an idea off of me.

Who We Are As Heroes...
• Those who are our heroes define our identity.
You never grow out of having and needing heroes
Heroes dictionary definition (click here)
You are hero to someone. There is someone that looks up to you.
Heroes are just the ordinary who do the extraordinary.
Heroes influence, motivate, and give us hope that our goals are attainable.
Heroes make the future more hopeful.
The life of a hero impacts the life of other.
You never get too old to have heroes.

Additional Vision & Inspiration ••
Heroes (click to listen)
by Jars of Clay
We're in shock from the failed emotion
No cause in a shadow land
We sing while the city's burning
No room, no escape, no plan
We all never thought it would end this way
And we need a hero
To save us from ourselves
Save us from our fear
When the sirens wail, we need a hero here

Quotes:
"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” - Christopher Reeves (Superman 1978)

“A hero is a man who is afraid to run away.” - English Proverb

“The hero is one who kindles a great light in the world, who sets up blazing torches in the dark streets of life for men to see by.” - Felix Adler

“Nurture your minds with great thoughts. To believe in the heroic makes heroes.” - Benjamin Disraeli

Photo Essay Rebirth

Nearly two years ago, Revolution Press was the precursor to Revolutionary Media. Established as a group of artists - photographers, writers, and graphic artists, Revolution Press was focused on building photo essays and photo sermons that changed perspectives and impacted lives. The stories focused on everything from the investigation of Jesus ministry, to the deep pain of spiritual sorrow.

The Revolution Press photo essay's had ceased to exist.

Until now.

Revolutionary Media is bringing back its dynamic Photo Essays.

The call is out.

20 artists are needed. Photographers. Writers. And Graphic Artists.

Each month, one story will be published.  All contributers will not be committed to particular parts of the photo essays developed. Rather, they will contribute by leading the photo essay, or being a part of the image creation.

The process is simple.

Each month, contributers will be directed to a private posting. On this posting, they will find a list of captions which outline the photo essay. From here, the photojournalists will have 2 weeks to assemble images for the story. Each photojournalist will upload the images into a private collection where the leader of the photo essay will choose the images which best describe the captions.  The leader will take the final two weeks to assemble the photo essay with a graphic artist and a writer.

At the end of each year these 12 photo essays will be assembled in a publication that will challenge and inspire believers across the world.

Through this medium, these RevMedia artists will change the world.

This is the mission.

This is the need.

Will you respond?

(If you are an artist in any field of photography, graphic arts, or writing, and are interested in becoming one of the twenty individuals who will commit to this photojournalism team, contact Christina Dickson by email: cndickson@TheRevMediaProject.com. Launch of RevMedia's next PhotoJ assignment will take place on October 1st, 2008.)
